Why different result from nonlinearBeamColumn and dsipBeamCo

Post by bridger »

I do reversed cyclic analysis using nonlinearBeamColumn and dsipBeamColumn, respectively.
But the result are very different. For example, the max force are larger when using dsipBeamColumn.
Why?
Thanks!

I suggest that you should study the following presentation concerining the differences between these two elements. http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... ed_Element In general, displacement-based elements require a more detailed meshing in order to provide accurate forces.
