Shear walls with longitudinal reinforcement

Post by rcwall » Mon Apr 06, 2020 11:12 pm

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to model some lightly reinforced shear walls where only the vertical reinforcement is present.
Using beam elements with fiber section works but mainly for flexure dominated specimens.
I'd like to use some other method that could allow me to better approximate the behavior of these walls and possibly investigate the cracking pattern.
SFI_MVILEM elements and LayeredShell sections seem interesting but I'm quite worried the absence of transverse reinforcement could reduce their accuracy or be outside of their scope of application.
What do you recommend? Do you have any advice?
