Element-Removal Options

it'd be great to have the capability of removing an element without having to touch the recorder -- hence the recorder would return zero for an element that has been removed.
I can't remove the recorder because the recorder, even section, that has been defined for this element has been defined with several other elements. -- i have to do this, otherwise i'd have too many recorders and i'd hit the limit too quickly.
