Interface element

Post by partla » Mon Jan 21, 2013 10:41 am

Hi to all,
I want to know which element and material best describes the interaction of soil and structure? Specially wall and adjacent soil.
Is it wright to use PySimple1material for simulating the interaction of soil and wall or it's just for piles?
I'll be happy hearing from you.

Thanks in advance

i have seen those in research (aka Professors) that do SSI do both, i.e. some who model the soil as a continuum include the addition PY springs where the soil meets the structure, and some leave it off.

thanks Prof. for reply.
I'm so confused because of this modeling. There is a little example for geotechnical problems and I don't know what to do :(
this community forum was so helpful for me but in geotechnical problems I can't find solutions. Why the Soil Modelling forum is blocked?

again thanks for your helps and wonderful site.

it's blocked because it was getting lots of spam and nobody on the geotech side was answering any of the questions posted.
