Geometric Transformation ahout the beam

If I build a one-story-one-bay frame the beam depth should parallel to Z-axis of local coordinate or Y-axis?
According to the pictures of "element cross section" and "element orientation" of Linear Transformation in the command manualit seams to the Z-axis but in some examples which are all to the Y-axis.
which is right?Why?

you could just run an elastic example and verify for yourself by comparing against the known answer.
