I am using OpenSees to create a model of a suspension bridge for seismic response analysis. I encountered an issue while simulating the central buckle: the central buckle needs to be simulated using truss elements, but the material behavior is only subjected to tension, not compression, and it has an initial prestress. What approach should I take to simulate this?
