Axial force in axialy released fiber beam

Post by hasanasadi » Fri May 12, 2023 12:21 pm

Hello
I have modeled a RC MRF using fiber elements and rigid diaphragm. In order to avoid axial forces in beams due to their elongation, I used zerolength elements with low axial stiffness at both ends of beams. Yet, at high intensities in which large drifts are induced, significant axial forces are induced in beams. When I don't apply gravity loads, axial forces are decreased to zero.
How can I solve this issue?
Why removing gravity loads, solves the problem?
