Soil analysis in SSI problem

Post by buunguyen » Sun Jul 17, 2022 10:47 pm

Hello everyone,
I am modelling soil-structure interaction: a building with 2 basements founding on pile foundation.
for soil, SSPBrickUP element and PressureDependMultiYield material are used. I have read some example in Opensees wiki, gravity analysis of soil is conducted in 2 stages: elastic and plastic. I am considering 2 cases of procedure of analysis:
*CASE 1
- Material stage 0
1/ Gravity analysis of soil (elastic)
2/ Remove soil elements in the basements, Gravity analysis of soil (elastic) after excavation
3/ Structure application, gravity analysis of structural loads
- Update material stage 1
4/ Gravity analysis of soil (plastic)
5/ Dynamic analysis
*CASE 2
- Material stage 0
1/ Gravity analysis of soil (elastic)
2/ Remove soil elements in the basements, Gravity analysis of soil (elastic) after excavation
- Update material stage 1
3/ Gravity analysis of soil (plastic)
4/ Structure application, gravity analysis of structural loads
5/ Dynamic analysis

The differences between 2 cases is that the application of structure and structural load analysis are applied before (case 1) and after (case 2) "Update material stage"

which procedure is reasonable?
Thank for your help,
Buu
