CatenaryCable element

Post by ShanJY » Wed Nov 25, 2020 6:19 am

Hi,
I am trying to model a suspension bridgeusing Catenary Cable element as main cable, but I do not know how to set the initial stress of this element.

Thank you for your help...

You can try adding two extra nodes at the ends of the member and connect those nodes to the ones connected to other elements via equaldof. Then you can apply some forces to the nodes at the end of the catenarycable during gravity analysisi

Thank you very much for your help. I tried to apply the force to the nodes at the ende of the element, but this does not have any effect on the displacement of the whole cable structure.
