Bouc-Wen Model

Post by Gholamreza » Mon Nov 02, 2020 3:03 pm

Hello Engineers,

Can anyone explain how OpenSees calculate the yielding displacement (uy), yielding force (Fy), and also strength (Q) of structure when we use Bouc-Wen material? let say we have a SDOF structure with BW material with the known initial stiffness (ko) how to find the yielding point? Obviously, if we know one of them we can find the rest..... but I am not sure how OpenSees compute them.

There is no defined yield point for the Bouc-Wen material as the nonlinear relation starts from the beginning. If you need to define a yield point, you can do it with your own processing using the force-displacement relation that you record as a result of your analysis
