How to assign different damping to different members in a structure

I am preparing a structure model in which i am going to mount non-structural components as vertical cantilevers...

Supporting structure has different damping and Non-structural component has different damping...

How shall i assign different damping to the non-structural components ???

put the elements in different regionas and assign different damping values to the different regions

i am able to create a region for elements.. but still i am not able to assign damping to it...
can you pls tell the syntax of that command ?
