Hi I was wondering what are the expected units for moment of inertia? Usually I would use kg*m^2 but in the example it uses mostly imperial units. Also in the getting started example it omits mass from the calculation is that an oversight or do you have a reference to why mass is omitted and the formula to use?

There are no default units in OpenSees. You should use consistent units throughout your model
