Beam element with asymmetric sections

Post by Xinlong » Tue Mar 26, 2019 11:51 am

Can I use the beam element in OpenSees to simulate a frame made of steel angles (asymmetric section with noncoincident location of centroid and shear center)?
If yes, where shall I put the origin when I define the fiber sections? At the centroid or shear center?
More general, when OpenSees assemble the elements to a frame, does it use centroidal axis as the reference axis?
