Analysis Commands in Wall-Backfill Problems

Post by duttaANURAG » Tue Apr 10, 2018 11:12 am

Good Evening,

I am currently working on Wall-Backfill-Foundation Soil Interaction Problem in OpenSees.
Working on the OpenSees Geometrical Model have already been completed.

But I am stuck right now in this analysis part.
Please tell me on what basis do we choose the timeStep, test, algorithm and integrator commands for Geotechical Analysis as such in Wall-Backfill Problems.

I tried going through the OpenSees Days 2011 Videos in Youtube. However, till now I couldn't understand a single thing.

Please help me.

Thanks in advance.

you might need to brush up on dynamic analysis integration schemes (Newmark, Central Difference, ...), nonlinear solution algorithms (Newton Raphson, Modified Newton,...) before you start using OpenSees as you can get wrong answers if you do not know what you are doing. i suggest "Dynamics of Structures" by A.K. Chopra as a starting point for dynamics, there are many basic numerical methods in engineering books to also look at
