Steel deck

Post by esi_opensees » Wed Apr 26, 2017 2:20 am

Hi all,

Could you please guide me how we should simulate a 3d steel deck (composite slab) within opensees?

Thank you.

what is the purpose of modeling the 3d steel deck? , i.e. are you intersetd in looking at say displacements at locations in deck, or just modeling of a diaphragm for the lateral analysis of the building.

Thank you for your attention.

The purpose is not modeling of a diaphragm for the lateral analysis of the building.
Actually, I wanna evaluate the bond-slip behavior between concrete and steel plate (specify a shear stress limit so that sliding will occur if the magnitude of the shear stress reaches this value).

Thank you again.

i once talked with a researcher doing something similar .. they ended up modeling the deck and concrete as seperate elements wwith zero length elements between them with the stress-strain .. this was a 2d model, so they used beam elements for steel and concrete in the deck
