Plastic hinge

Post by ashf » Sat Sep 26, 2015 6:21 am

Hello everybody
I really want to know is it necessary to use a zero-length element(to model spring) or beam element with hinges or other things to model plastic hinges in nonlinear elements? or we can record plastic deformation and check rotation of nonlinear element and compare it with limitations to understand plastic hinge formation?
and as an another question, why isn't there any deformation for braces when I consider post-buckling effect of braces in nonlinear analysis?
just another one , is it possible to model a material with a special behavior model?(to consider nonlinear parameters a , b and c in tables of FEMA- 356)
