Dimension Problem

Post by martinmasanes » Wed Dec 11, 2013 9:37 am

Dear FMK

I have a 2D SCBF model (BasicBuilder -ndm 2 -ndf 3), supose that it is contained on the XZ plane, but I want to include a 2D plate which is orthogonal to this plane (XY plane). The question is if I have to change the BasicBuilder yo -ndm 3 -ndf 6, or it is possible keep using the current configuration?

Thanks!!

you can use both! use 2 model commands, one for 2d and 1 for 3d. after each model command build the model for that dimension. for the location of a common node in the two models you need 2 nodes, one in each model and tie them together with an equalDOF when done.
