thank you for your reply, vesna
but now i'm confused. i draw a pic of eccentrically brace that attache to this text and show how to define element in EBF.
I want to read this pic and take your suggest about it?
is that crocct?

attache file is : http://www.mediafire.com/view/?gofcyorgfbd9k6r

i'll expect that hear your idea!
thanks alot

I never studied EBFs myself but I know that the middle portion of the beam (between braces) has predominantly shear deformation. Beam with hinges element can not capture shear deformation and is not sufficient. You will probably need to add a shear link (zeroLenght element) to capture shear deformations. Search for articles on modeling of EBFs. That may be helpful.

Dear vesna
what's your idea about this script that writte in attache file? is that corroct?
i use it from this article:
1- Ramadan, T., and Ghobarah, A. (١٩٩٥), “Analytical model for shear-link behavior”. ASCE J. of Struct.
Eng ١٢١:١١, ١٥٧٤-١٥٨٠
2-Prinz, G.S.(٢٠١٠), “Using Buckling-Restrained Braces in Eccentric Configurations” Ph.D. dissertation,
Dept. of Structural Engineering, Univ. of Brigham Young

attache file is: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?3q1n3extf1zy2qb

thank you

hi vesna
i'm so glad to see your presentation (at http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... n_elements).
i just one question about your presentation.
Can i use this script for EBF Brace?
thanks alot

You need to try adaptive solutions by changing nonlinear solvers, integration methods, convergence criteria, etc.

Hi, vesna
i creat script for N-Bay & N-story in TCLeditor(opensees).when i run this script for 5 Bay $ 24 Story, my model do'nt be run,
but when i select less than 24 story, this model run!!!
could you help me?!
I send my script to your researchgate's account messanger
