Example on Dynamic Reliability Analysis (FORM) ?

Post by bayram_aygun » Fri Mar 21, 2008 11:45 am

Hi,

Does any of you have a simple OpenSees reliability example where a structure (any structure) is subjected to ground acceleration time-history?

I have one example for static analysis but dynamic reliability analysis is a mystery to me for the moment.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Hi,

Dynamic reliability analysis is not a trivial problem and most likely FORM is not going to converge at design point, depending on the type of response (peak, displacement, stress, strain, etc) in the limit-state function.

If you want to carry out any other reliability anlaysis (e.g., sampling), simply replace the static load definitions with dynamic load. All the syntax is similar to a regular time-history analysis.

Hope this helps,
