it works by setting the displacements .. you can pass in vel and accel records instead but the Prapezoidal rule is used to integrate to get the displacements .. this is BAD if you
have earthquake motions .. SO ONLY PASS IN THE DISPLACEMENTS IF YOU WANT
TO GET GOOD RESULTS.

most ground-motion databases have all three types of record available, disp, velo and accel anyways.
