Shell with variable thickness

Post by daalgi » Mon Oct 12, 2020 5:52 am

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to model a RC shell with an inclined top surface (the is bottom flat). I couldn't find any related information in the documentation, so I came here to ask if any experienced user-developer knows about it:
  • Is it possible to define a shell element with variable thickness?
  • As an alternative, I was considering to discretize the domain by means of shell elements with constant thickness, but in order to model the inclined axis I would need to define a vertical offset in each element. Is it possible to define this vertical offset? Plotting the actual thickness of the shell elements would result in something like this:

Thanks in advance!
