Re: What is the openseespy error message 'R is negative in ReinforcingSteel::SetMP()' about?

You should consider using other material models for your steel. ReinforcingSteel is very unstable.

Your post and what you're validating are unclear. You should be the one to provide particulars and outcomes.

Re: 'Factorization failed' warning for spring static analysis using displacement control

You are hitting zero stiffness on your p-y curve (you have two points with same p values 4.61E+04, 4.61E+04) and the system of equations is singular.

Re: Getting same pushover curves

You haven't really shown / provided enough information for someone to know what the issue is. I know for a fact that the section aggregator works for shear, so there's something wrong with your model or your results interpretation. I recommended starting from zero with an elastic cantilever because ...

Re: Getting same pushover curves

I don't know what you're showing via the screenshots.

Build a simple cantilever with elastic sections, then aggregate shear. Don't start from someone else's script. Do it yourself, from zero.

Try a simple cantilever with shear deformation and build up from there.

Re: Does the cyclic analysis work in python?

You can dereference a list in Python by putting a * in front.

It is not uncommon to use different algorithms. Usually 'Newton' is sufficient, but you can switch through other algorithms. There are better switching strategies out there though. Search for "OpenSees smart analyze"
