QzSimple1 suction

Hi guys I am modelling an open foundation on a bed of q-z springs. I tried with both QzSimple1 and QzSimple2 materials with suction 0.0. When I run cyclic push-pull analyses just to check the material response, I always get some suction values. Is it a default parameter of 0.1qult irrespective of us...

chord rotation of a column

Hi Guys I modeled a bridge abutment column by 10 displacement based elements with 5 integration points in each element. This discretization is necessary to incorporate lateral resistance from backfill soil. As a part of assessment, I need to know the chord rotation demand of the overall column eleme...

Input of 6x6 matrix for foundation stiffness.

Hi guys

I am wondering whether it is possible to give a 6x6 coupled stiffness matrix as a replacement of pile group. I can use zero length element, but that will give just the diagonal terms; without any coupling among them. Any idea....

cheers

temperature analysis

Hi all I want to use newly developed fire module in opnesees for analysing track structure interaction due to uniform temperature change. First, when I run the Example 1 downloaded from Edinburgh Univ, it says "Fire Using OpenSees Thermal Extension from University of Edinburgh (UoE) OpenSees develop...

Re: An Elementary Quesion NLS methods

Dear Frank

Could please suggest which element should be used for beams part of a rigid diaphragm? I know restrain provided by rigid diaphragm constraint induces high axial force in the beams. any possible solution???

I m getting this error when evoke close command.

can not find channel named "OutputData/DAPout/sectionFiber/caseID201/Eigen1.wri"
while executing

I close most of the files at the end of the script. the eigen vectors are recorded at each step in a new file while the previous files are deleted. A sample portion is as follows for {set j 1} {$j <= $numsMode} {incr j 1} { remove recorder [lindex $eigRecorder [expr $j-1]]; set temp "" set temp [lra...

100 files for recording member responses.
13 files to record misc parameters.
6 files record eigen vectors at each step.
I delete after reading them at each step.

file delete "$DAPout/Eigen$j.wri"

Is it possible to implement nodeEigenVector command soon? It will then eliminate the need of opening and closing eigen vector files.

Hi I am running adaptive pushover analysis. In each pushover step, I perform Eigen Value Analysis. Store eigen vectors in text files and recall subsequently to compute pushover load vector for the next step. The error msg appeared while opening eigen vector file after certain pushover steps, e.g., a...

Seems memory leakage while running adaptive pushover in Mac

Hi

While running a script for adaptive pushover in mac, it gives the following error after completion of few analysis steps. The same script runs well in Windows system.

The error msg
"couldn't open "OutputData/DAPout/sectionFiber/caseID201/Eigen2.wri": too many open files"

thanks
