Analysis time

Dear fmk: I'm doing some research (IDA analysis) with a relatively large model with elastic and nonlinear elements. It is a plane frame. I want to know if there is a combination of analysis commands that can help me to save time. For example in the actual model, a time history analysis for a seismic...

Re: Brace Buckling

In case anyone is doing the same, I found a simple working solution. the Only mputa that you need to know is the length from the beam-columns connection to the middle of the barce, then using the drift command you avoid the Story drift problem and get the deformation (in %) of the node, so you only ...

Brace Buckling

Dear all: I'm doing some research on braced frames and studing brace buckling, and have a problem trying to capture the displacement of the middle node of the brace. My braces have 10 elements (like Vesna's example) and the main problem is to capture the displacement of the middle node because of 2 ...

Re: Insufficient arg

Sorry I wasn't using the current version, but it was because the model doesn't work on the current version. I get a "domain error: argument not in valid range". The error occurs during the eigen analysis, so i think there is a problem in the version 2.4.3 with the eigen command. My eigen analysis is...

Re: Insufficient arg

I'm using version 2.4.2 (rev. 5540). about the command, I'm using what says on the source code. I'm sure this is the offending command because the model works fine, then I add this single command and it doesn't work, and shows the warning about the args.

Re: about fiber section segmentation

IDR should not change with different number of fibers in your sections, only the info you can get for a section analysis

Thanks for the reply.
When i used puts"..." y got:

uniaxialMaterial SteelBRB 6 20408.16 37.75 62.29 1.2 1.0 0.3 69.77 0.2 1.05 0.15 1.0e-14

wich I suposse, is correct.

Insufficient arg

Dear fmk I'm trying to use the SteelBRB uniaxial material, but i get the message of insuficient args, and I think I'm setting all the required parameters, what a have on my model is set matID_BRB 6 set Sigmay_0 [expr 370*$MPa]; set Sigmay_T [expr 1.65*$Sigmay_0]; set alpha_T 1.2; set beta_T 1.0; set...

Story Shear

Dear All

I'm performing a time history analysis and want to capture the story shear. The model is a braced frame, so the question is which is the best recorder to capture the shear at each story

Thanks!!

Re: local coordinates

I know I should know this, but to compute the axial displacement, I shoul consider only the end nodes/elements, or is it necesary to include de inner node/elements displacements? I ask this because the braces buckle, so I have the doubt if the axial displacement (ploted in all the reports about this...

Re: local coordinates

The brace is a "chain" of 10 forceBeamColumn elements, like Vesna's example of SCBF.

local coordinates

Dear fmk I'm working with an SCBF and I want to measure the axial displacement of a brace, so the recorder I'm using is the node disp recorder, and then get the axial displacement correcting with sin() and cos(). The question is if there exist a recorder so that I can get the axial disp without corr...

Recorders

Dear All Hello, I have a relatively big model of a 6 story SCBF and used Vesna's example to build it (Using 10 elements per brace, rigid end of beam and columns,...). It is running fine and was able to process every ground motion I've tried on it. But I need your help to know which recorders are the...
