Surface to surface contact element

I want to know which element can we used for the soil pile interface (surface to surface contact) in 3D analysis. If there is no such element, what is the alternative for it.

Re: Surface to surface contact element

Dear Vesna, The element about which I am talking is not only useful in geotechnical but can be used anywhere. Here, I want to know which element can we used for surface to surface contact in 3D analysis. If there is no such element, is there any other options available. As you know that opensees is ...

Re: Surface to surface contact element

Dear Vesna,

I want to know one more thing that in 3D contact element, I find Lagrangian node in that. But I am not able to understand the concept of it. please tell me how it works in applying the contact conditions between the pile and soil.

Thank you.

Re: Surface to surface contact element

Dear Vesna, I saw the link that you have send to me. I am not able to find the solution of my problem. I want to know which element can I used for soil pile interaction problem in 3D analysis. Please help me. I look at equalDOF constraint but it does not allow to involve the frictional between the e...

Re: BeamContact3D

I am also facing the same problem, how to select the lagrangian node coordinate and how these node will help incorporating the contact condition.

Please help me.

Re: Surface to surface contact element

Dear Vesna, thanks for reply. But the link you attached with this is for node to segment, I want an element that can correlate the contact between the surface to surface element in 3D. Actually I want it for pile soil interaction problem. If there is no such element, can you suggest me the alternati...

Surface to surface contact element

I want to know that is there a contact element for the contact of surface to a surface in opensees. I search out but not able to find. If there is not, what is the other alternative for this.

Please reply as soon as possible

Stiffness of the zero element

Hello,

Is anyone check the stiffness for the zero element by giving some input parameters. Actually, I am using the zeroLength element as a springs. And I check the stiffness of the material. But I am not getting the correct value.
Please help me.

Re: geometric transformation in 3d building model

Thank you very much,

Just there is one more thing that can I assume different orientation for local axis in the same frame.

Re: Linear Transformation

can you tell me that how to decide the local coordinate system. I thing that for the local coordinates, firstly I have to fix x-axis along the element and then using the right hand rule I can fix the other axis. But after talking to one friend, member of opensees, That the thing he told me is quite ...

Re: Linear Transformation

Soorry to bother you. I have the pdf file of the mannul of the opensees. So in that manual there is a difference in defining the vecxz from the command manual of the opensees site. Now, I think so that after deciding the x-z plane, the vecxz will be described by taking a vector along the direction o...
