Yep, I make the the refernce load of 1.00 corresponding to the DOF I am controlling. If you want I will package up the binary, and the tcl files so you can see it. It works with the displacement beam column but not with the force one. I just change the element commands and it works.

zero reference displacement error

When I run an analysis using the displacement beam column everything runs fine, but if I use the nonlinear Beam column I get "zero reference displacement at control node DOF" on the first displacement step. What does this mean and how can I fix it. Other than than using a different element things ar...

Actually I am using a custom build of 1.6.0, I don't really need to have anything in the new version. And I don't really want to port all my changes of to a new version unless I know it is going to solve the problem.

Lateral displacement under axial load.

I apply an axial load to a wall that is being modeled with a fiber based nonlinear beam-column element. I am jsut doing a push over analysis, and when I apply the axial load the wall moves laterally. The wall is fully symmetric in cross-section. Any ideas about why this is happening? Thanks

But would that give the equivalent effect? Also would there be a way to do it using a fiber beam colum nfor simplicity? Thanks for the help Silvia.[/i]

No, element load wouldn't work, at least I am not seeing how to do it. What are you thinking Silvia? Also what has just been coded?

Postensioning

Does anyone know how I can simulate a postensioning bar in OS? I thought I saw someone ask a similar question a while ago, but couldn't find it. Thanks.

I slipped a negavtive sign on 4y and 5z so I was getting screwed up shapes. Once I fixed that things worked out fine. So problem solved. THanks for the help, I just thought that was a weird error. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, in my defense I was tired when I poseted. Here is the first part of the script. # Create reference points for section generation # ----------------------- # Confined reference points set 1y -43.9390 set 1z -2.4375 set 2y -39.3110 set 2z -2.4375 set 3y -39.3110 set 3z 2.4375 set 4y 43.930 set 4...

WHy do I get an error message

When I execute a script I get an error message relating to how I defined my concrete fibers. In the cmd window it says "ERRROR: y-coord z-coord" Where the y-coord and the z-coord are the local yand z coordinate of the fiber. However, the analysis continues just fine. If you want I will post the scri...

Location of integration points

If you have say 5 integration points along the length of an element where are they located. I would think that two are at the ends and one is in the midpoint. But where are the other two? Can someone tell me where they are or point me to a reference so I can find out. Thanks
