The 3D beam element DispBeamColumn3d has problems for torsion analysis. For example, creat a cantilever 3D beam and apply a torsion at the free end. The analysis failed due to unknown reasion. Is there problems in considering torsional stiffness (GJ/L) when forming the stiffness matrix.

no elemental load in ShellMITC4 element
Hi, folks
There is no elemental load defined in ShellMITC4 element. Actually there is function 'addLoad' in it but it do nothing. Whether it is necessary to create a new elemental class named 'ShellUniformLoad' for shell element just like existing Beam2dUniformLoad for beam element.
Also I find a new elemental load class Surfaceload added in version 2.3.0 but there is no definition of the value of load. I am not sure how to use this.
So how can I make ShellMITC4 available for uniformly distributed load, using Surfaceload or creating new load class?

Re: errors of external symbol for first build OpenSees2.3
thank you fmk. I had solved the problems and also I trace the previous topic and find the same problems. Sometimes the errors are related to quickMain and forget them, just use the .exe to conduct the .tcl file.

errors of external symbol for first build OpenSees2.3
Hi,
I install the tcl/tk "ActiveTcl8.5.10.0.294993-win32-ix86-threaded.exe" to C:/Program Files/Tcl. Then download OpenSees2.3 and open opensees.sln in Win32. I build but have following errors
libm.lib(libm_error.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _errno referenced in function ___libm_error_support
2>libifcore.lib(for_nt_open_proc.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _errno
2>libifcore.lib(for_portlib.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _errno
2>libifcore.lib(for_init.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __pxcptinfoptrs referenced in function _GETEXCEPTIONPTRSQQ
2>.\..\..\bin/OpenSees.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals
this is my first build and I did not do any change. I wonder what is the "external symbol" means? how can overcome these errors?

How to apply elemental load on ShellMITC4
I use ShellMITC4 element to model plate bending problem. I can not apply uniformly distributed load(UDL). Also I check the fuction 'addLoad' in ShellMITC4 and there are no implement in it. So my question is how to apply UDL on ShellMITC4 element?

how to model rotational spring for beam boundary
the constraint command 'fix' can only define fixed or pinned boundary condition. How to add a rotational spring to the end of beam as a boundary
