Do not use the Linear algorithm if you have nonlinear response! Use Newton.
Thank you very much, Sir!

No
Thank you very much, Sir!

Though I have not yet figured out how I can correctly model a structure using a spring-mass system.
I actually posted another topic here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=68378
Maybe you can give me insights about it, Thank you in advance!

### Lumped Mass system

Good day! I've been trying to model a simple structural system for time history analysis wherein mass are lumped and columns are represented by spring elements. I tried using two-node link elements for the column and defined a hysteretic material to represent the overall structure properties. I was ...

Eigenvalue analysis is not required to do response history analysis.

How about gravity analysis, is it mandatory before perfoming THA?

### MDOF lumped mass model

Hello everyone!

Any idea on how I model a lumped mass MDOF system with columns represented as shear and flexure springs?

Also, is it required to do first eigenvalue analysis and gravity analysis to capture the response to a time-history analysis?

### Re: Help with MDOF shear and MDOF flexural-shear modeling

hello @selimgunay!

Thank you for replying, I'm actually thinking of using 2-node links, is this possible?
Or should I use zerolength elements and connect them with rigid links?

### Help with MDOF shear and MDOF flexural-shear modeling

Good day everyone! Harvie here, I'm literally new to opensees and is trying to understand how this works. I'm trying to read stuff from the wiki but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm trying to model low to mid rise structures as MDOF concentrated mass shear models and high rise structur...
