Re: Hysteretic Material

Yes that should theoretically work, you need to check the resulting force displacement though Hello, when I used this way for considering fixed and expansion bearing, many of hysteretic materials about 196 utilized on case of bridge in which created instability of structure. what do I do? do instab...

Re: Tangent Stiffness Proportional Damping on Updated Frequencies

To be able to use tangent stiffness proportional damping, you need to use $betaK or $betaKcomm, where $betaKcomm is preferred for numerical purposes and better convergence. Instead of computing $betaKcomm for each time step and instantaneous frequency, you can approximately compute it for an elonga...

Re: Hysteretic Material

Salutes to you
How do I use the best possible mode from hysteretic material during performing time history analysis in the bridge model (i.e stability test described in workshop's ‪Frank McKenna)? :!:
Crated instability (dt=0.005, dt= 0.00001) in owing to it.

Re: nonlinear time history analysis

If you want an identical analysis time step for all motions, you can use the smallest, which is 0.004 sec. But if there is no specific reason for running all with the same analysis step, you can run each with the corresponding ground motion step. What is the period of your structure? salutes to dea...

Re: nonlinear time history analysis

Hello
I have 40 records with different time-steps [0.02 sec, 0.005 sec,0.004 sec], what is the best identical time-step for all records to perform the transient analysis?

Re: Hysteretic Material

Yes that should theoretically work, you need to check the resulting force displacement though Hello to you Unfortunately, I can not catch a good response because there are two gaps (negative and positive) in combination. Actually, how I model this material , besides I have to that combine two EPPGa...

Re: Hysteretic Material

Salutes all minds I want to know that how do model [gap] in Hysteretic material for fixed bearing and expansion bearing elements in the bridge (Neilson 2005). Can I model a gap in hysteretic material or should use other ways? *I have being trying that by combininga HystereticMaterial with an EPPGapM...
