ShellMITC4 and zeroLength Element

Hi I'm trying to model a slab which is representated by ShellMITC4 elements but at some point of it's length the slab has releases. The releases are zeroLength elements. I want to know if it's possible to representate slab releases as zeroLength elements in the model.

Re: Discrepancy of results between SAP2000 and OpenSees

Yes, because all internal forces are the same, except the shear diagram (reactions, axial, etc forces are the same)

Discrepancy of results between SAP2000 and OpenSees

I am modeling a composite behavior of a slab and a girder. The shear diagram of the beam, according to OpenSees is 50% of the shear diagram obtained in SAP2000. But the bending moment diagram is the same for OpenSees and SAP2000 results. Why is this happening?

Recorders for RigidLink

Hi, I am modeling a composite section (slab and beam) and I have rigidLinks between the slab nodes and beam nodes, but i have a question... it's possible create a recorder for the rigidLink (i mean the forces due to the rigidLink in the nodes)

Shell Recorders Variabl

Hi, I am using ShellMITC4 elements in OpenSees and I have these recorders: recorder Element -file folderResults/forces.out -time -ele 1 2 3 4 forces recorder Element -file folderResults/stresses.out -time -ele 1 2 3 4 stresses recorder Element -file folderResults/strains.out -time -ele 1 2 3 4 strai...
