In Opensees, why reinforced concrete beam-column joint is assumed as a parallelogram?

I have included an inelastic Joint2D element in my RC moment frame building for RC BC joints. My moment frame has seismic and gravity loading,

A. Which option is correct?

Option 1. Is the RC BC joint modeled as a parallelogram considering shear deformation is more critical than flexural deformation? OR

Option 2. Is the RC BC joint modeled as a parallelogram considering shear deformation is more than flexural deformation?

B. Why can't we model the RC BC joint for flexural deformation? Is it related to more deformation or critical deformation? or critical forces?
Here critical means that cause permanent failure even without loading

C. If there is only gravity loading, we need not model the RC BC joint as a parallelogram. We can model it as a trapezium, right?

Kindly reply.

Unable to run gravity analysis

Dear Users,

I have received an error while running gravity analysis. The error is given below.

invalid command name "pattern"
while executing
"pattern Plain 1 Linear {
#Distributed beam element loads
eleLoad -ele 20501 20502 20503 -type -beamUniform -0.14771161..."

Please suggest what to do!

Thank you.

Meshing in force beam column element

Dear Users,

Can someone help me with the number of fibers required in y and z direction of a force based nonlinear beam-column element?

I have tried several values but I am having issues in the response in pushover analysis, specifically post yielding region. It has a lot of serrations and it is stopping way before the maximum drift.

Thank you.

Joint2D calibration issues

Respected Users,

I have tried to calibrate joint2D element as per PEER22 joint model. But my response is not matching at all. The response is higher and drift at maximum response is not matching.

Please help me in this regard.

Effective stiffness & slip spring - flexure+slip calibration

Dear Users,

I am modelling a cantilever column using fiber section and nonlinear beam-column element for flexural calibration under lateral load. While using effective stiffness in the model, can I use elastic slip spring too?

Thank you.

SteelMPFuniaxial material is showing error while running

Dear Users,

I am trying to calibrate flexure critical columns (with fiber section). I am modelling concrete and steel (reinforcement) with Concrete02 and SteelMPF respectively. When I am using SteelMPF uniaxial material for modelling reinforcement material, it showing the following error - "couldnot create uniaxial material"

Please suggest a solution to use the material or suggest an alternative for the material.

Thanks and regards,
