Re: Recorder

Did you try basicDeformation or plasticDeformation according to this: http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... mn_Element??
Also maybe you should post at least the part of your code where you define the section

Error on non-linear BNWF model/Opensees shuts down

Hello,

I am trying to model a non linear soil-shallow foundation system using the ShallowFoundationGen command but i keep getting the following error:
QzSimple2:: QzSimple2-- only accepts QzType of 1 or 2. Moreover the opensees.exe is shutting down so fast after that error that i couldn't actually see what the error was saying, and i had to video the whole thing and replay it frame by frame.
Initially i ran the same model for elastic analysis (footing condition tag=3) and there were no problems there. After i change the footing condition tag to 5 (or even 4 for that matter) the application keeps shutting down on me, and i cant seem to get it to work.
I think a couple other people have had the same problem http://opensees.berkeley.edu/community/ ... nwf#p60060
and there was a suggestion to use an older version of the program.
Is this the problem? Does anyone have any suggestions on these??
I dont even know if i can install and use an older version of the Opensees.exe with the newer version of the tcl interpeter.

Plz help anyone???
thanks

Period of sdof on uniform soil modelled with quad elements

Hello,

can anyone please tell me how i can get the period of sdof which is resting on a uniform soil mesh modelled with quad elements?? (2D mesh: 200x50 with 1m thickness) I am working on soil structure interaction problem and i have modelled the same structure on a full soil mesh as well as simplified models with springs (impedance factors). When i run an eigen analysis for the simplified spring models, i get one period (the sdof's period), no problem. But when i run the model with the soil mesh i get a number of periods since every soil element has 8 dof with correspondig masses. Taking into account the mesh, the total number of periods wounds up to a few hundred (!) i cant tell which one is the sdof's...

Any help would be deeply appreciated
Thank you
