Re: How does parallel and series material work?

Thanks for response. That means the stress in Parallel material is only sum up of the sub-components?

How does parallel and series material work?

Hi, everyone. I'm currently using parallel and series materials to merge some sub-components. I have understood how each material works for my components, but I cannot find the equations how they can be combined in manual. Can anyone explain the geometric procedure for parallel and series materials ...

Re: Problem on using .dll (warning could not create...)

All, I solved the problem by changing Windows 64 bit to 32 bit. Thanks!

Problem on using .dll (warning could not create...)

Hi, everyone. I generated .dll file based on VS 2017 with ElasticPPcpp. The thing is when I was running an example, I got this error message: "Warning could not create uniaxialMaterial Mymat." Based on my understanding, this means my Opensees cannot find the .dll file at all. I even added the path t...

Re: Questions about the period variation at each loading ste

Yes, I just wanted to check the period of the damaged structure compared to the initial statement before earthquake. Do you think that this is a proper approach for it?

Thank you for your concern.

Re: Questions about the period variation at each loading ste

Dear selimgunay, Thank you for your comments! First of all, I actually used Bilin material to define the behavior of beam and column in the modeling, and I applied the verified parameters to the material. Then, can I understand the results as that the intensity of the earthquake was not sufficient t...

Questions about the period variation at each loading step

Hello, everyone. I'm currently trying to analyze the change of the structural period at each time step based on nonlinear dynamic analysis. I have two questions related to the study. First question is....... as for the fundamental period of the example (RC frame) is 1.5 s (verified), I've got the ma...

"analyze failed" problem

Hello, I have some problem on my modeling which is designed to do dynamic analysis with ground motion data. Before the end of the ground motion data, the analysis finished with message as below: WARNING: CTestNormDispIncr::test() - failed to converge after: 200 iterations current Norm: 0.010782 (max...

Bilin material

Hello, I'm using Bilin material model as structural element, and I ask your advice for my script. The problem is... values of inter-story drift ratio from my modeling are too small. It is close to zero! I guess the modeling is too stiff and input data for various parameters of the material model has...

Re: How to get the natural frequency of damaged structure?

Thank you for your help. However, domain error was occurred as below. Is there any solution for this problem? --------------------------------------------------------- domain error: argument not in valid range while executing "expr sqrt($lam)" ("foreach" body line 2) invoked from within "foreach lam...

How to get the natural frequency of damaged structure?

Hello, everyone I'm trying to get the natural frequency of the building before and after earthquake. When I obtain the natural frequency from initial state of the building, I usually put the eigen command between "nodal mass" of the building and "recorders" But, I want to get the natural frequency o...

Re: Problem of eigen analysis

Dear fmk Thanks for your answering. You mean I have to add more constraints to the all moment connections, e.g. fix 1111 1 1 0, fix 1112 1 1 0, fix 1211 1 1 0 and so on? And should I delete an equalDOF of each floor? +) When I perform the dynamic analysis, I always receive this message. Can I ignore...

Problem of eigen analysis

Hello, I modeled a code for a dynamic analysis at RC frame including one-component model. However, when I tried to get eigenvalues from my model, opensees gave me an error message as below. In my current situation, only [eigen 1] can be obtained from my model. To perform the dynamic analysis using R...
