Re: Assigning different rebar detailing sections to a member

I think with displacement elements you may just have to assign different elements to each section which have different detailing. To get accurate results with DB elements it is necessary to use multiple elements per a member - so it may be easier to just assign elements with different sections..

Re: OpenSeesSP not working with multiple processors (cores)

Hi Frank

Thank you very much for your reply.
Is it possible to add this? I believe the issue is with Pinching4 material model, because my 3D model consists of elements which have been modeled with a spring and their behavior is defined with Pinching4 material model.

Thank you
Anita

Re: OpenSeesSP not working with multiple processors (cores)

Dear Frank Could you please let me know if the error message that I am getting is related to an error that I can fix or it is related to something that has not been incorporated in OpenSeesSP. I've been reading previous messages on the discussion board, and I think the error may be related to using ...

OpenSeesSP not working with multiple processors (cores)

Hi I'm trying to run a 3D building model on OpenSeesSP, but it does not work when I use more than 1 processor. I run the model by sourcing multiple files. The error message occurs as soon as the Gravity Analysis .tcl is sourced. Below is the error message: "Zerolength:: sendSelf -- failed to send Ma...

Re: 3D model problem: frame and core walls

Thank you, I think they are my best two options and I can change the backbone accordingly for the global system.

Re: zeroLength element: recording multiple materials

Thank you for your suggestion, I think that's the best option. I was hoping to use the stressStrain command because it automatically recorded both the force and the deformation but it appears to be limited to a single dof.

Re: 3D model problem: frame and core walls

Thank you very much for your reply. I have tried displacement-based elements as well. I'm able to get the correct wall response when I'm modelling a single wall, however when I start modelling a system (multiple walls and perimeter frames), convergence becomes impossible! I have also tried just mode...

3D model problem: frame and core walls

Dear Frank I am struggling to get my model to work correctly in 3D and I was hoping you could provide me with some guidance as whatever I have tried has not been successful and I am running out of options. I have created a 3D model which is composed of perimeter frames and 3 core walls (box shape an...

zeroLength element: recording multiple materials

Is there a way to record multiple materials for a zeroLength element using a single recorder? I'm able to record a single material (i.e. material assigned to a degree of freedom). For example, I can record the moment-rotation material response in the 6th dof using: recorder Element -xml $Path/$filen...

Moment-curvature analysis for open sections

Dear All Is it possible to do moment-curvature analysis in OpenSees for open sections? I am using the moment-curvature example for a column to conduct moment-curvature analysis for a C-shaped wall, however the analysis does not run properly. Could someone please advice me if it possible to conduct m...

Re: Source code

Hi Jayanthan I have not received an email from you, have you sent it to amia@student.unimelb.edu.au ? Your script looks correct to me. The only thing that I would suggest is to define the zero length element behaviour in the other two directions as well (i.e Y and rotation), assign a rigid material ...

Re: Source code

Hi Jayanthan With bar-slip I think you can also model it with a spring rather than zero length section, but I think the zero length section is meant to be a more accurate method for modelling bar-slip.. As I've mentioned I have problems getting the shear spring to work consistently as well, especial...

Re: Source code

Hi Jayanthan My apologies for the late reply. The stiffness for soft and rigid material are arbitrary to allow to define the material behaviour. For example the soft material is basically a material with zero stiffness, but to avoid numerical issues I've used 0.9. The rigid material is set to a very...

Source code

Dear Frank I was wondering if you could please make the source code for Pinching Limit State Material available online? I have looked at the database available at the link below but I think the Pinching Limit State Material is not made available yet? http://opensees.berkeley.edu/WebSVN/listing.php?r...
