Re: Help! the Opensees.exe has stopped working

LAPACK routines are mainly related to connections. Try to look for if there is an element without connected to where it needs to be.

Convergence achieved with reduced dt!

Hi, I am trying to run a response history analysis in OpenSees but having some convergence issues. When I decrease dt of the analysis, the model achieves convergence. I was wondering if you can help me with a loop that changes dt (for example: when failed, try with a reduced dt and then continue wit...

Re: Help! the Opensees.exe has stopped working

Hi,

Try to download opensees again, run the model and see what happens.

Re: Convergence solver for analyses in OpenSees

Can anyone help with changing dt of the record when the model does not converge? For example, my model works for reduced dt and does not converge when I put the original dt of the record. Does anyone have a loop for different dt's please?

Re: Seismic Isolator for 2d 2dof model

You can use a hysteretic material with defining a beta factor of 3 and it gives you the behaviour of the slide bearing element which dissipates energy through friction.

Convergence solver for analyses in OpenSees

Hi,

Can anyone just post here how you solve when you face convergence in Pushover, and Non-linear response history analyses? There are information in other pages but it will be very useful if we can collect them under this subject.

Thanks in advance,

Kind regards,
Cagatay

Re: Flatsliderbearing for 2d 2dof model

Selim hocam merhabalar, I modelled the bearing element in the way I explained above and it gives a warning such: WARNING FlatSliderSimple2d::setUp() - element: 300 - ignoring nodes and using specified local x vector to determine orientation. WARNING FlatSliderSimple2d::setUp() - element: 301 - ignor...

Dear Frank,

Do you have any idea on that please?

Thanks,
C.

PTFE Bearing Model using MultiLinear Material

Hi Frank,

Is it possible to model PTFE slide bearing element using 2 node link elements with multiLinear material model together with a truss element corresponding to a post-tension bar to incorporate the restoring force?

Thank you,

C.

Re: Flat sliding bearing element in 2d 2dof model

Selim Hocam, Thank you for your reply. The issue is my main structure is a 2d 2dof idealized and incorporating a 2d 3dof bearing element is only possible when I consider using equal degree of freedom multi point constraints between the main structure and bearing element. I guess this is the only way...

Yes, they are all 2d 3dof examples.

Flat sliding bearing element in 2d 2dof model

Hi Frank,

Can you please let me know how I can use flat sliding bearing element in my 2d 2dof building model?

Thank you in advance,

Kind regards,
Cgty

Re: Plane Stress Material in Navigator

Hi David,

You can find publications of Massimo Fragiacomo, Igor Gavric, and their co-authors online.

Let me know if you cannot, I might send you some of them.

Cheers,
Cagatay

Re: Flatsliderbearing for 2d 2dof model

Selim hocam merhabalar, My models consist of 4 node quad elements with 2 dof per node. However, the flatslidebearing element requires the nodes to have 3 dof. That is why it creates a problem when i try to place the bearing in my model. To connect two different models (for example 2d 2dof and 2d 3do...
