Re: Applying Accel Time Histories in Multi-Support Excitatio

Hi, I changed the element from nonlinearBeamColumn element (FBE) to Displacement-based beam column element (DBE). As Vesna stated in her presentation, (http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/images/c/c5/FBEvsDBE.pdf), using DBE gives you a higher error in the response when compared to the values obtained...

Re: Recorder for Fiber Sections

Hey Vesna,

Thanks for your response.Sorry for the late reply, but I was trying to work out a process myself, so didn't see the post. I actually came up with the same process. I tried different looping methods, but this one worked. Thanks a ton for your help.

Regards,
Unmukt

Re: Recorder for Fiber Sections

Hello Vesna, Thanks a lot for the response. I made the changes as you suggested, and the problem got resolved. However, I'm facing a new issue. For a given orthogonal set of ground motions, I have to change the angle of attack from 0 to 180 degrees, with a change step of 15 degrees. Hence, I want to...

Recorder for Fiber Sections

Hi, I have defined the columns for my bridge using force beam column elements and fiber sections. I'm recording the deformations of the column under different seismic loads. the command I've given for defining my recorder is as follows: recorder Node -file $datadir/$Mkdir/$Folder/$Angle/Node50001_Ro...

Re: Applying Accel Time Histories in Multi-Support Excitatio

Hi, I am facing a problem while running two different analysis cases. As stated before, I have to apply bi-directional earthquake for my seismic analysis. I'm considering Force-based beam column element for my columns. On using uniform excitation pattern, my analysis runs without any errors or conve...

Re: Applying Accel Time Histories in Multi-Support Excitatio

Thank you Frank for addressing the issue. For validation purposes, I have sets of acceleration as well as displacement time histories for a particular earthquake, which have been corrected and cleared of all noise signals. However, for running my main analysis, I have only acceleration time historie...

Applying Accel Time Histories in Multi-Support Excitation

Hello everyone, I have to apply different sets of Bidirectional Earthquake ground motions at abutments and at foundation level of the bents of a bridge. I was planning to use the Multi-Support Excitation pattern, which allows me to apply different ground motions at different supports. However, in th...

Modeling Diaphragms for a skewed box girder bridge.

Hi, I'm trying to model a 3d 2-span skewed box girder bridge. I need to understand how do I model the diaphragm located at mid-span and at the piers. How do I introduce the skew angle? I was initially thinking of adding a rigid element with length equaling the width of the superstructure, and defini...
