Re: Modelling issue

Thanks!

This looks like something you can do pretty easily in an input script and does not require implementation in the core OpenSees.

Re: Modelling issue

It kinda sounds like the soil column with dashpot approach to inputting a ground acceleration.

See Figure 4 of this paper (http://dx.doi.org/10.1061/(ASCE)BE.1943-5592.0001353) and the references therein. It's fairly common in earthquake SSI.

Re: Modelling issue

Interesting. Could you provide some figures describing the approach? The link is good, but a visual representation of the large mass method would help a lot.

Re: Update parameter at every time step

You can use updateParameter inside the loop, but it looks like these functions aren't implemented for this element. I can add the functions and it will be available in the next release.

Re: How to control displacement of multi-node?

You can use sp constraints inside a load pattern: https://portwooddigital.com/2021/02/07/ ... d-control/

Re: Consistent units issue

You have to ensure the units are consistent with your input. OpenSees does not convert units.

Re: Trapezoidal load problem

When I run the script, I get the correct reactions for triangular load on a cantilever
vertical reaction - 15
moment reaction - 50

Re: expected integer but got "-dir"

OK, I think I know what you mean.

Put a statement at the end of your script, like puts "a". There's some kind of parsing error that's not obvious. It happens with other elements too.

I'm not sure what you mean that it works normally when "sourced"

Re: expected integer but got "-dir"

Looks like there's a parsing error in OpenSees. I'll fix it tomorrow.

Re: With regards to the documentation of Generalized Alpha Method

Yeah, they probably should be alpmaM and alphaF. Can you verify from the paper referenced in the source code? // Description: This file contains the implementation of the GeneralizedAlpha class. // J.Chung, G.M.Hulbert "A Time Integration Algorithm for Structural Dynamics With // Improved Numerical ...

Re: How to release moment at the ends of a rigid link?

Tcl performs integer division.

set L 12
puts [expr $L/4]

will produce zero. Your nodes are all at zero coordinate. So, either set L 12.0 or divide by 4.0

Re: Stress Strain Not Working with OpenseesPy3.3.0

Hello Victor,

It should be fixed now: https://github.com/OpenSees/OpenSees/pull/615

You can use eleResponse until the update.
