Eigen Analysis

I am currently breaking down my model components and making sure they are correct. I have modeled a simple column with a fixed base in both opensees and SAP2000 and get completely different results. Is there something wrong with my model? My SAP calculations gives me a period of 0.38276 sec and my O...

Convergence issues

I am currently working on a 3 story frame model with a bilinear zero-length connections from the beams to columns and I believe I having convergence issues. I was hoping someone could take a look and see what the issue is. Here is the main model followed by some subfunctions # 3 story frame with 4 b...

Re: Error Message

Thanks Again. For future reference it was a simple syntax error in the opening form the model. I had left off a ";" after a sub-function and then a comment.

Some type of inelastic beam column element

I am modeling a three story four bay steel frame with lean columns. I am placing a hysteretic behavior in the connections between the beams and columns, using the zero length bi linear spring, to model tests from these connections. However I am also trying to model the columns with some P-M interact...

Recorders

I am currently working on one of the examples provided with slight modifications. The recorders stop recording before the analysis is complete? The displacement control is set .1 inches and runs 100 steps so my x should reach 10 inches. In the recorders the node displacement stops at 4.9 inches and ...

I am brand new to the software and have a very simple question I cant seem to figure out. When working through the introductory examples I'm confused as to how element connections are modeled. Does it assume certain fixities for different element types? Any help would be greatly appreciated .The cur...
