Hello all,

I have the same problem with downloading. Can anybody help me?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Problem with the pattern "MultipleSupport"

Yes, I know that. That file contains displacements. That's not my problem. Can you see any other problem with my code?

Re: Problem with the pattern "MultipleSupport"

For sure! The acceleration time history that I'm using is sinusoidal with amplitude of 0.2g and period of 0.5 sec. # Units: m, sec, ton, kN wipe all model basic -ndm 3 -ndf 6 node 1 0 0 0 node 2 0 0 1 node 3 0 0 2 node 4 0 0 3 node 5 0 0 4.4 fix 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 geomTransf Linear 101 1 0 0 set D 0.5 se...

So how can I avoid adding those modes?

Re: Problem with the pattern "MultipleSupport"

What I do is that, I have sinusoidal acceleration time history; then I use SeismoSignal software to convert it to displacement.

Problem with the pattern "MultipleSupport"

Hi all, I modeled a cantilever with a lumped mass on its top (very simple model). I want to excite the column at the base by using pattern "MultipleSupport" instead of pattern "UniformExcitation". Using "MultipleSupport", I get unreasonable acceleration at the top of the column( e.g a=170 m/s^2); ho...

Re: Plain GroundMotion command

fmk, I modeled a soil column including three elements. I used multi-support excitation command to excite the model at the base of the soil column. The base of the model were fixed in all direction except in the direction of excitation. Here is the BC at the base: fix 1 0 1 1 fix 5 0 1 1 fix 9 0 1 1 ...

Newmark integrator

Hi, The results of my numerical model are significantly affected by the value of Newmark Integrator parameters. I looked at some examples, and I noticed that different values are being used by different people e.g. 0.5, 0.65, 1.6 and ... I'm wondering whether I can use the value of let's say 3.0 or ...

Plain GroundMotion command

Dear fmk, Would you explain more the following "Note", mentioned in description of Plain GroundMotion command (OpenseesWiki): "For earthquake excitations it is important that the user provide the displacement time history, as the one generated using the trapezoidal method will not provide good resul...

Brick8N Element

Hi all,

Has anybody used Brick8N element, developed by Prof. Boris Jeremic? Using this type of element with different sizes in a mesh results in some wrong results, but interestingly using equal size of these elements in a mesh leads to the correct results. Do yo have any idea?

Thanks in advance.

UniformExcitation Pattern

Hi, I have a question on "UniformExcitation Pattern". I found somewhere that: " UniformExcitation Pattern -- this type of pattern imposes a user-defined acceleration record to all fixed nodes, in a specified direction." This means that if I want to excite a model in x direction, using this command: ...

Analyzing large number of 3D elements

Hi all, I'm modeling soil media by using Brick8N 3D elements. Increasing the number of elements (say 4000 elements), I got this error: "" BandGenLinSOE : ran out of memory for A <size, super,sub><123408, 3686, 3686> "" My question is : Is there any limit for the number of elements and nodes in OpenS...

OpenSees Manual

Hi to all,

Is there any new manual of the recent versions of OpenSees (I have the manual of OpenSees version 1.7.0)??? That would help use the new commands, especially the ones related to soil modeling!!!
