MPICH2 and Norton antivirus

Post by rahul » Mon Oct 13, 2008 2:31 am

I am facing a strange problem while running MPICH2 on more than one machine.

The run fails if on any of participating hosts Norton Anti virus is installed.

If on the same machine it is disabled or not installed the run succeeds.

Is there any way or argument that I can pass to MPIEXEC call so that I can overcome the issue.

Regards,

it's not mpich that you have to look at changing .. it's the norton settings .. you have to set it up so that norton trusts the program and will allow it to spawn othe r processes and ste up tcp/ip connections.

Yes, I agree with that. Actually, I also encountered this problem. I just configured the setting in my Norton anti-virus to allow it. I know that it may be useful to others if they have the same problem.
