Parallel OpenSees for 64-bit Windows

Post by macarojaime » Wed Dec 17, 2008 10:47 am

Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to run OpenSeesSP in Vista 64-bit plattform, by installing the MPICH2 version for 64-bit? I would like to take advantage of 8 processors in a 64-bit system.

I tried downloading the binary from www.mcs.anl.gov, corresponding to Win64 EM64T/AMD6, but it seems that it doesn't have the complete set of files necessary.

After I intall the .msi, the smpd service never initiates (even if I double click the icon with the UAC off), but more strangely, there are no wmpiregister, wmpiexec, wmpiconfig executables in the bin folder, so I can't do the registry part.

Also, the MPICH2 folder in Programs is never created.

Can someone help me please?

Thanks

Maria Jaime

why don't you install the 32 bit version of MPICH2. i don't have access to a 64 bit version of vista to help you.
