beamcolumnjoint (problem about peroid of structure)

beamcolumnjoint (problem about peroid of structure)

hi all
I`ve created a RC frame and used beamColumnJoint element for the connections, period of structure is very high.
the period of the model without beamcolumnjoint element is ok.
please help me

yes, the joint will change the period and if very flexible it will change it by a lot. a simple hand calculation of how much say a rotational spring at the ends of an elastic beam will show you this. the stiffer you make the hin, the closer to your original period.
