zero lenght element performance

If you have a script you think might be useful to others post it
here. Hopefully we will be able to get the most useful of these incorporated in the manuals.

zero lenght element performance

Post by behzad1980 » Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:13 am

Hi,
1-Could u please tell me whether it is important to define i node as a master node and j node as a slave node in zero lenght element or not?

2-How can Opensees recognize that two nodes become close to eachother or far in zero lenght element?

3-Is positive local axes in zero lenght element in direction of axes whitch connect i node to j node?

Thanks

1. no .. it is a regular element .. a truss w/o length.

2. it will spit out a warning if they are not close, but it doesn't matter .. again the distance between nodes does not come into the equations .. remember it's a truss w/o length

3. yes,
