Post by Saeedkazemi » Sat May 09, 2015 2:06 pm

hi , i want to model steel structures under post earthquake fire using time history analysis + thermal analysis with eachother
i want to now is opensees able to model it?
thank you

hello
i downloaded Pushover and Dynamic Analyses of 2-Story Moment Frame with Panel Zones and RBS opensees file but when i run the program for time history analysis after 10 iteration
i see:

Starting OpenSees..

Modified Ibarra-Medina-Krawinkler Model with Bilinear Hysteretic Response

T1 = 0.8057694423072154 s
T2 = 0.18402956002142892 s
Model Built
Running dynamic analysis...
WARNING: CTestNormDispIncr::test() - failed to converge
after: 10 iterations
NewtnRaphson::solveCurrentStep() -the ConvergenceTest object failed in test()
DirectIntegrationAnalysis::analyze() - the Algorithm failed at time 5.574
OpenSees > analyze failed, returned: -3 error flag
Dynamic analysis did not converge
The current time is: 5.573000
please tell me what is the problem?
thanks alot

probably the Bilin model .. it keeps changing and there is nobody to update the scripts that once worked .. try a different material.

hi
I have modeled a steel structure to analyze fire after earthquake, Immediately after the earthquake and at the begining of thermal analysis have a sharp jump in outputs (eg the drift of 9th floor suddenly at the end of seismic analysis and at the begining of thermal analysis, increases from 5% to 9% )???????

Second, after the thermal load was applied, when the first member under thermal load collapses, we have a huge shift in outputs For example, if the roof at the time of the collapse of the first element has 50 cm displacement, suddenly In about 5 seconds primary since the collapse will has The displacement of about 150 to 250 cm, i want to know whether this shift is normal or not? Is modeling problem?
thanks a lot
