element UpdatedLagrangianBeam2D

Post by sophiezhang » Sun Jun 07, 2015 12:58 pm

Hello,

I have been looking at using the UpdatedLagrangianBeam2D element but I'm not quite sure how to define this element and whether it's still able to be defined when running the latest OpenSees exe. On the inheritance diagram for the UpdatedLagrangianBeam2D Class (http://opensees.berkeley.edu/OpenSees/a ... eam2D.html), I see that there are others like Elastic2dGNL which need to first be defined? When I put "element UpdatedLagrangianBeam2D" in my tcl file and run it, it says: "ERROR -- element of type UpdatedLagrangianBeam2D not known". I haven't found any examples using element UpdatedLagrangianBeam2D, any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

the element class is there but there does not appear to be any tcl code that will create one. As you are at Stanford, you might ask Prof. Deierlein is he has a script that would create such an element just in case. I can track down the ele kwoing the command
