Section Orientation

Post by nrojas » Tue Nov 02, 2010 6:59 pm

Hi !!!

I have a question regarding the section orientation in a 2D problem. The orientation depends in how I create the section? for example, I have a rectangular column of 5" of base and 9" of height. If I want to put the section such form that the height of the column be at the same direction of the global X axis, how I do that?

well i could simply tell you the answer, but you are an engineer and would learn probably nothing if i did so .. why don't you create an elastic cantilever model using a rectangular section and determine the answer for yourself based on the displacements you obtain.
