Cusp is so slow?

Post by shahabshamlou » Mon Nov 06, 2017 5:38 am

Hello
I tried to use gpu.
I installed cusp and cuda.
My nvidia graphic card is k4000m with 960 cuda core.
Model is a 4 span bridge with 300 nodes. Some parameters are variable.
I need to run ida analysis. But it is very slow.
Slower than a simple analysis on cpu.
In my case Cpu is 5 time more faster than gpu.
Is it normal?
Where is problem?
I guess something is wrong.
Maybe in install cuda or cusp library or ...
Please help me.

see response o your earlier post .. the people who incorporated the cusp solver into OpenSees are using it with the fermi and tesla gpu's, i.e. not the cards that come with your laptop.

Hello Frank,

My graphic card is also CUDA enabled (NVIDIA Quadro P2000), and I had same problem. You mentioned people who incorporated cusp solver into Opensees are using GEforce and Tesla not Quadro. Could you please provide me with a link to read about this statement.

Thank you.
