Use of setTime command in Site Response Analysis

Post by Theokart » Tue Sep 26, 2017 5:30 am

Hello,

Can anyone explain me why the "setTime 0.0" command is necessary for Site Response analysis problems before the implementation of Dynamic analysis? I have observed that the velocity (force) that is applied on the soil base is like non-existent if the "setTime 0.0" command is omitted.

Thank you.

it h=just reset the time in the domain to be 0. if not done, the TimeSeries patterns have to be modified for subsequent analysis to include a bunch of 0's or whatever so the starting points are not missed .. the timeseries just returns the load factor at the current time, it does not subtract off the time at which it was added.
