Eigen analysis with cable material

Post by Farid » Wed Apr 12, 2017 6:03 pm

Hi,

I assume that cable material in opensees has a tension-only behavior. Eigen analysis is a linear analysis, I am wondering how does OS handle cable material (with a prestress tension) during eigen analysis?! Does OS assume a linear elastic behavior for cable with identical tension and compression stiffnesses during eigen analysis?

the eigen command will use the current stiffness of each element, the elements will use the current material tangent
