Interaction between two direction springs

Post by mimmi » Wed Apr 12, 2017 3:08 am

Please I need help!

I have a joint that is been modelled with a vertical and and horizontal spring, reproducing the cyclic response of the connection in traction and shear.

The two spring are modelled with zerolength elements and the two assigned laws are pinching 4 material. The point is that the response in one direction is at each time affected by the diplacement in the other one, following a certain experimental degradation law that varies with the specific parameter.

What I am asking is if someone already faced this topic in a simplified way and could help me with some smart ideas.

Thank you so much.

they only effect each other due to the fact that the tangent in that dirn effects the response of the rest of the degrees-of-freedom of which that other spring is tied to one .. as such there is no way to seperate their interaction.
